Known Issue regarding Federal Registry Renewal Activity ReportPosted 7/24/2012 Each year, on July 1, NMLS updates the Renewal Activity Report to assist institutions in preparing for the upcoming renewal season. NMLS is aware that this report is incorrectly displaying the renewal status of certain MLOs as “Exempt” when in fact the renewal status is “Eligible for Renewal”. See the Federal Registry Renewal and Reactivation Handbook for a full description of renewal status definitions. We are working to resolve this issue and will provide updates as appropriate on the Resource Center. Until this issue is resolved, institutions should not rely on this report to determine who is required to renew to maintain an active registration for 2013.
NMLS Processing Fee Change for Initial Federal Registrations Effective July 1Posted 6/29/2012 In accordance with the existing NMLS Federal Registry processing fee schedule, the processing fee for initial federal registrations of MLOs will be $60 for the period of July 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012. This change affects only the processing of registrations for individuals who have never previously registered with the NMLS Federal Registry. Any initial registrations that are currently in process but formally submitted to NMLS after July 1 will be subject to the $60 processing fee. Individuals who initially register during this period are not required to renew their registration for 2013. State license processing fees remain unchanged. The NMLS Industry Terms of Use will be updated on April 16, 2012. Changes include the removal of the term “mortgage” from various sections in order to make the NMLS Industry Terms of Use applicable to a broad range of non-depository, financial services industries that state regulators will begin managing on the system. Additionally, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is identified as a federal regulatory user of NMLS; and regulatory actions posted by state regulators have been added to the list of data that can be made publicly available (Section 4F). Institution users are required to annually renew their two-factor credential subscriptions. The annual subscription fee is $55. These users will receive an email notification when their subscription is 30 days from expiring, and will be reminded each time they log in to NMLS.
